Welcome to our March newsletter! We have details about this month’s KAL,
a contest where you can win a $100 gift certificate,
and some “save the dates” you’ll want to add to your calendar.

March KAL
Gentle Waves by Kieran Foley
GENTLE WAVES is an easy-to-knit lightweight scarf or shawl with drop stitch mesh rippling between garter stitch ridges. The transparent waves are inspired by sunlight sparkling on shallow water.
Techniques include dropped stitches and simple increases and decreases. The pattern includes notes and photos to explain the dropped stitch technique, and instructions for making a small swatch if you’re new to the technique.
Below is a photo of our shop sample while it was still on the needles. We used Marmel from Ella Rae, a splashy DK-weight in a cotton/acrylic blend. It provides a rainbow of shiny color that knits up to a cobblestone or “marbled” effect. Choosing a color changing yarn helps with the evolving waves of color and provides lovely visual interest. LYS Day Project Contest!
Feeling creative? Want a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to spend at Henny’s Yarn Shop? Then you’ll want to scour Ravelry for a pattern that will show off one or both of the exclusive colorways we had dyed for our 15th Anniversary celebration last fall.
Below you’ll see an example of a shawl that Henny knit while on the beach in Costa Rica. She used one skein of our anniversary yarn, which is fingering weight, and combined it with two skeins of Malabrigo sock yarn in teal and pink.
To enter, you need to cast on a project using one or both colors of our limited edition anniversary colorways dyed by Supernova Dyeworks*, complete it by the deadline, and send us a photo via Facebook messenger.
We will compile all the entries into one post on Facebook where we will invite the public to vote on their favorite. The votes will be tallied and the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate just in time for our Local Yarn Store Day celebration on April 25th.

Now: Choose your pattern and purchase yarn if necessary
April 15: Deadline to send photo of completed project to us via Facebook messenger
April 18: Photos will be posted on our Facebook page for the public to vote
April 22: Voting ends
April 23: Winner of the $100 gift certificate announced!
*You can incorporate as many other yarns as you want, but at least one must be one of the anniversary skeins.
