July at HYS...

It’s KAL time!

Wow! July is here already… That means it’s time for another KAL! We’ve picked the perfect summer knitting project… (and then we picked a SECOND pattern for summer knitting! Yeah, that’s TWO KALs for July! You’ll see details below after the New Yarn Alert.)

But now, back to the first KAL… Three skeins of fingering combine to make this fun shawl that plays with pretty color combos and textured stitch patterns. Great for porch, beach, camper, and dock knitting all summer.

It’s called the Oh Hey Vacay shawl and you can find the pattern on Ravelry by clicking HERE.

Scroll down to see the gorgeous colors Linda chose for hers. Stop by the shop to see what yarns spark joy for YOU and save 15% on all your supplies with our KAL discount. Got that one skein of speckled sock yarn you picked up because it spoke to you, yet haven’t used it yet? This would be a great time to get that out of your stash and bring it in to find some color-mates! Intimidated by choosing colors? No worries! We LOVE to help with that ;)

NEW YARN ALERT!

We think you’ll love SUMMER SOLSTICE from Juniper Moon Farm. It’s a luxurious linen and cotton tweed blend of 48% Linen, 24% Cotton, 24% Viscose, and 4% Polyester with a slight slubby texture that adds extra interest to the finished fabric. Henny is modeling a cute fringed top made with it. So cute! We loved this one so much we decided to add a second KAL this month. It’s called Bianca and you can find the Ravelry page by clicking HERE. Can’t decide which one to make? Make both!

A visit with Margaret Njuguna from

EN-GEDI Children’s Home…

As many of you may know, Africa has long held a special place in Henny’s heart. Through her travels there she became friends with Margaret who runs the En-Gedi Children’s Home. As a result of that connection, our Wednesday Knit Night regulars have adopted En-Gedi and make monthly donations to help support the mission and goals of caring for the special children at En-Gedi. What a treat it was to have Margaret with us for a recent Wednesday night!

To learn more about En-Gedi you can visit their website: En-gedi Children’s Home

If you feel a special calling to participate in supporting En-gedi as well, you can always drop a donation in the little red box by our check-out, or donate to them directly by following the instructions on their website: https://www.en-gedichildrenwithhope.org/donate/

We will be closed on Tuesday July 4th, but open all through the prior weekend so you can stock up on holiday knitting supplies!

Happy Knitting from your friends at Henny’s Yarn Shop!
